fFN Qual – Texas Medicaid

What was Evaluated

 

  • Cohort of 29,553 women in Texas with a diagnosis of pre-term labor.

  • Triage patterns and the utilization of the fFN and trans-vaginal ultrasound (TVU) modalities were evaluated.

 

Key Findings

 

  • Only 14% of the women in the cohort had a record of receiving fFN testing.

  • Patients who received testing

    • Had gestation lengths 9.4 days longer (24.6 vs 15.2 days) than those without fFN testing.

    • Had significantly more clinical risk factors.

    • Were less likely to deliver during the initial hospital stay.

    • Deliver 3 or more days after the hospital or emergency room encounter.

fFN Qual – MORE2

What was Evaluated

 

  • Retrospective study using Inovalon’s MORE2 registry, an extensive national multi-payer claims registry.

  • 23,062 patients in the cohort.

  • Evaluate pre-term labor triage patterns and utilization of fFN testing.

 

Key Findings

 

  • Only 12% utilization of fFN to triage pre-term labor.

  • 76% of women were discharged. Of those discharged, 1 in 5 (20%) went on to deliver within 3 days.
